"I know you've been.. complaining - But you. Weren't. Ready."
— Lester Crest, Grand Theft Auto Online - Heists

Heists are dynamic and open-ended missions in Grand Theft Auto UnLocked that arrive in the Heist content update. They can be performed by a minimum of two players and maximum of eight (determinate by heist).

More heists will be added with future updates.

Description

Heists allow players to plan, prepare and execute multi-tiered Heists through a series of optional missions across Los Santos and Blaine County (and maps added via content updates). These require tight communication and coordination, with players taking on specified roles at each point to accomplish multiple objectives on the way to complete the Heists.

Introduction

"You don't know me, but I know a lot about you. I've been observing your behavior and while you do seem to be a bit... unpredictable, you also seem like you could be useful in some business ventures. Meet me at my place and we'll talk. I've sent my GPS location to your Phone."
— Gary Mitnick via a Text Message.

Gary Mitnick, an experienced hacker, contacts the Multiplayer Protagonist in hopes of setting up a 'business relationship' with the player. Gary introduces the player to multiple heists and gives a small tutorial on how to pull one off.

Missions

Various Heist missions are added, each with some required and optional preliminary set-up jobs.

  • Heist tutorial - Learning the ropes
  • Fleeca Heist (Seven optional locations)
    • Hack - Survey the bank and hack into their network.
    • Kuruma - Steal an Armored Kuruma from a rival Heist crew to protect yourself from the threat of police.
  • Paleto Job
    • Military Hardware - Intercept a military truck and steal heavy weaponry from them.
    • Hack - Steal hacking equipment from a rival Heist crew to open the vault.
  • Pacific Standard Job
    • Hack - Steal hacking equipment from a rival Heist crew to open the vault.
    • Convoy - Hijack a Merryweather convoy to get thermal charges.
    • Bikes - Steal Lectros from the Uptown Riders to escape the police.

Execution

Heists are started just by entering the given location with other players wielding weapons. Instantly players are given a set of tasks to complete. Roles can be chosen prior to the raid.

Basics

In all Heists, a crowd must be controlled and money must be stolen, so at minimum there must be one person per role. Once previous setups are completed, some objectives may be easier such as hacking vault door instead of blowing it apart which would signal the fire alarm. Once the money is taken, players must escape the police and stay low for awhile to avoid an APB placed on their head.

Setups

Setups are entirely optional and can help make tackling the Heist much easier, while costing the players a bit of their own money. For example, if the leader completes Pacific Standard - Hack the police will take longer to show up, or if the leader completes Paleto Job - Military Hardware they will be able to wear heavy armor during the escape.

Planning board

The planning board is used to determine player roles and cuts. It is located in the planning room of high-end apartments and mansions. The planning board must be used before performing a Heist.
